A healthy blood supply will deliver oxygen, the primary nutrient, to all of your cells. For general circulation and blood health, including arterial health, be sure to eat plenty of dark green leafy vegetables. These are rich in folic acid, which helps to lower levels of homocysteine, a substance that may be a contributor to osteoporosis. The bioflavonoids in citrus fruits, known as rutin and hesperidin and support healthy blood vessels and so help to prevent varicose veins.
Raw beetroot (beet) and dandelion juices, along with dark green leafy vegetables, are traditionally used to combat anemia, and if you combine these with citrus juice or tomato juice, this will serve to improve iron absorption. Potassium, which is found at fairly high levels in all fruit and vegetables, helps to lower blood pressure- watermelon, cucumber, grapes and bananas are especially good sources.
