Better for you chicken bites

Quick Tip:
We’re saying “no more” to risky health sapping antibiotics in our favorite fastfood treats with these delicious picks

On hectic days, we turn to fast food to help us power through the afternoon without crashing. We thought we were making the healthier choice by ordering chicken, but we were alarmed to read research from the CDC linking poultry raised with antibiotics that are frequently used in the human population to an increased risk of infections from antibiotic-resistant superbugs like MRSA. The findings nearly put us off our lunch, so we went in search of options from restaurants that serve poultry raised without antibiotics to reduce the spread of superbugs. Here’s to healthier eats!

If you prefer a sandwich…
A juicy grilled-chicken sandwich is our go-to on busy days. And while Burger King has announced that the company is working to remove antibiotic-treated chickens from their supply chain, the efforts won’t be completed until the end of 2018. That’s why we’ve switched to McDonald’s Artisan Grilled Chicken Sandwich for a delicious option sans antibiotics.

If you prefer a salad…

When we have the opportunity, we always go for a Cobb salad with metabolism-revving protein and healthy fats. But we weren’t too keen on the antibiotic-raised chicken in our previous pick. So now we’re savoring Panera’s take on the classic Cobb. The chain’s offerings are 100 percent free of antibiotics and preservatives. Now that’s a meal we can feel good about!
